KIGALI, Rwanda — On February 19th, Ampersand Energy RW Ltd. announced the launch of
the Miduha Battery Swap Station in collaboration with Power Charge Ltd, a Rwandan EV
charging infrastructure company. This marks Ampersand Energy’s first franchise-operated
battery swap station in Rwanda, introducing a new model for scaling electric transport energy
infrastructure through local partners.
Ampersand Energy is expanding its network through franchise partnerships to combine its
battery technology, swap systems, and operational standards with the local expertise of
energy entrepreneurs and infrastructure operators. This model enables faster and more
capital-efficient growth while ensuring stations are operated by partners who understand local
transport markets and customer needs.
At the Miduha location, Power Charge will operate Ampersand’s battery swap system and is
expected to facilitate more than 72,000 battery swaps annually, supporting hundreds of
commercial electric motorcycle riders in Kigali.
“This station represents the next phase of Ampersand’s growth in Rwanda,” said Emmanuel
Hakizimana, Country Manager of Ampersand Energy RW. “By working with strong local
